My past experience with MLM (multi-level marketing) was not good. It came at a time when we had started looking for an alternative to our traditional ball & chain bricks & mortar business and looking back I think ANYTHING would have seemed a good idea.

It introduced me to a brilliant set of people sold on a great concept of putting in 2-5 years work for peanuts to receive a huge residual exponential income for life on the back end. To the level of my mindset at that time that seemed a fair exchange, it runs parallel to the paradigms most of us are brought with, you work hard for money, and it certainly matched the results in our business so far and it also matches the corporate world where the higher up the ladder you go, the more you get paid.

So … I started out gathering customers and distributors, filled my office with DVD’s & marketing materials, lost count of the business cards I had printed to hand out to anyone over 18 with a pulse & got to the first level within weeks. I attended the training plus events, took telesales lessons, went out on appointments to homes & businesses, stood at exhibitions wishing the ground would swallow me up, did prize draws and more all for a “massive” £50 per month residual for my efforts .. after 12 months I was STILL nowhere near in profit .. nothing to do with the business model, everything to do with the WAY I was doing it!

Of course I know people in MLM today ( including the business I was in) who are making a great residual income (but they started 8-10+ years ago & if they were honest they would tell you that their attrition rate is immense BECAUSE of the INTERNET and when that happens integrity flies out the window & it becomes “just get another one” and that quite frankly sucks!.

I am a business woman so I hated the marketing methods they said to use, they were hit & miss at best. The numbers just did not add up for me and & I could not live with myself lying to people that this was the doorway to their hopes & dreams, I had seen more progress & helped more people improve their lives with my ebook .. so I quit .. not because I was GIVING up, I quit because I was GOING UP!
